Cedarwoods First Offense (aka Tukr) |
Every well established kennel raising hunting dogs has a foundation sire they can "hang their hat on" as a stereotype to their success. With Cedarwood Kennels that dog without a doubt is Cedarwoods First Offense (aka Tukr). The pudelpointer as a breed was significantly brought to fame in North America by this single dog's genetic prowess. He spent his 14 years as Bob's personal companion and house dog. Boys of Fall |
Boise State and Zamzows teamed up to have a dog retrieve the kicking Tee following kickoffs at all home games. I was asked as a trainer to train one of my dogs for this event. After several months of training I presented a team of 3 pudelpointers for the task. Anyone that has followed Boise State is aware that 50-60 Tee retrieves per year is par for the Bronco games. I made this into a family offering and use my 2 grandsons as backup retrievers when the opposing team runs the ball back past the 50 yard line (making it unsafe to send the dog). Kids are more durable !!!!

Hunting Chukar Partridge with Pudelpointers |
Hunting chukar in the high desert country of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, and Nevada is the ultimate upland bird hunting. A bird that can exist in this terrain shows just how hardy these birds are and the tremendous physical effort it takes to hunt them. Dogs have to routinally stand off the coveys 50-200 yards as the cover is so sparce. The bonus of a good chukar hunt is the landscape one sees and how vast the country actually is where these birds reside. Also, second to the ruff grouse they are the best eating of our game birds. 2014 North Dakota Pheasant Hunt |
I've hunted pheasants for the past 12 years in North Dakota with 2014 possibly the most memorable. Son Bryce and friend Gary Maxwell made this trip so special. I took a 6 month old pup named Cedarwoods Idaho Chrome (aka Keepr) along and she searched, pointed, and retrieved birds to hand as if she had been there before. Click Here To Watch |

Louisiana Duck Hunt |
In January 2008, I joined fellow pudelpointer breeder and NAVHDA judge Pat Saunders at his Louisiana duck camp for a week of southern cuisine and waterfowling. His camp his 12 miles out in the Wax Lake Delta. From the camp we hunted snows, blue, and speckled-belly geese; with an assortment of ducks including mallard, canvasback, pintail, widgeon, gadwal, scaup, and teal travelling out another 5-15 miles in a Go-Devil boat from the camp. Rodny on the Road |
Growing up in the 60's and 70's was a special period of time, both the music and the cars helped create this special era. I built a 30 Model A Ford in my garage in '95, taking 5 plus years to complete. The car, "Rodny" is as special to me as my Pudelpointers. Rodny and our 98 Vette, "Speedy" are our daily drivers; especially for any of our road trips. Click Here To Watch |

Big Bucks |
Growing up in Eastern Oregon gave me an early appreciation for monster mule deer bucks. I had taken 2 Boone & Crocket 30 inchers before my 18th birthday and the admiration of these gentle giants still burns a flame within me. I never hunt chukar or blue grouse without my camera, as this is a great opportunity to cross paths with an unexpected trophy buck. Other photos are file photos emailed me, especially those of the whitetail. Click Here To Watch |

Mountain Sheep |
After successfully hunting 4 different species of North American sheep, I became as passionate of sheep & sheep hunting in the 70's & 80's as I am today of my Pudelpointers. I've spent countless hours obseving and photographing sheep. A sheep hunter acquires a network of friends that also hold the same admiration for these wonderful animals as I do, and these are pictures that I have taken along with many sent me by other sheep enthusiasts from Alaska to Mexico. Bobs Hunting Career |
In my past nothing was more important than big game hunting. I have seen the best parts of Alaska, NW Territories, The Yukon, and BC. I have memories of these vast landscapes that will be with me forever. Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and The Dakotas have also found me in their most remote haunts, also. It has taken me many years to realize that wildlife photography is much more special than pictures of dead animals or a pile of dead birds, basically saying "look what I did". Im sure Mother Nature hates me for my past but now I dont think I'm mad at anything with hair on it anymore. I must be entering a new hunting phase as most of my pictures today are of the dog work. However, I dont regret any of these hunts and am now doing my best to "give back". Click Here To Watch |

Fly Fishing |
I grew up with a fly rod in my hand and to this day it's a challenge to decide whether I'm going hunting or fishing in October. Catching steelhead on a fly rod may be the most enjoyable outdoor experience I have encountered. Our whole family enjoys fishing together and Brooke, Bryce and LaFaye can be seen in the past fishing in some of these pictures. Click Here To Watch |

2013 & 2014 found LaFaye and I in Alaska fishing for the big trout on the Kenai River and also silver salmon. Not sure one will ever be able to wipe that smile off Laffy's face after landing so many trout, dolly's, silver salmon, and sockey salmon. Click Here To Watch |

Wallowa County, Oregon |
I grew up in Enterprise, Oregon. Growing up in Wallowa County would be any youngster's dream; high mountains on one side and vast canyons on the other, with beautiful Wallowa Lake as your swimming pool. My dad had a realestate business and also a ranch in Flora, Oregon just above the breaks of the Grande Rhonde River. This country is truly "God's Country". Hunting and fishing at their best.
